Black Rock Arts is excited to announce There’s Things (an exhibition for / about / around Robert Creeley), opening Friday, May 15, with a reception beginning at 5PM.
Through works of homage, interpretation and remembrance, There’s Things pays tribute to one of our most important and influential poets on the occasion of his 100th birthday. The exhibition includes contributions from over a dozen artists, several of whom worked in direct response to Creeley's writing and biography to create new works especially for There’s Things.
Participating artists include Gardner Astalos, Anthony Bannon, Zi Daniel, Chris Fritton, Bobbie Louise Hawkins, Alexa Kanarowski, Liv Long, T. Mitchell, Denny Moers, Richard Seehausen, Trudy Stern & Michael Morgulis, Tyrone Williams & Mirabo Press and Buffalo Correspondance School.
Additionally, a free screening of Creeley-related films will be presented in the gallery on Tuesday, May 19, at 7PM. The program will feature Bruce Jackson and Diane Christian’s documentary CREELEY and select experimental films from artists of Creeley's "company."
There's Things is part of a Buffalo-wide celebration of Creeley's life and work already underway. Featured programs include:
